Stovetop Greek-Style Ground Beef Wraps

In this warm hand-held fold over wrap, you can enjoy gyro-like flavours made simply at home with ground beef.

  • ¾ lb (375 g) Regular Ground Beef
  • 2 tbsp (30 mL) Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 small carrot, finely grated
  • 1½ tsp (7 mL) wheat germ
  • ⅛ tsp (0.5 mL) pepper
  • ¼ cup (60 mL) Greek vinaigrette salad dressing
  • 4 whole wheat pitas or flatbreads, warmed
  • Toppings
  • Shredded iceberg lettuce, diced tomato, sliced red onion, crumbled feta cheese, sliced green onions

Follow these cooking methods/directions:

  1. Combine ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, green onion, carrot, wheat germ and pepper in a large nonstick skillet. Cook over medium-high heat for 8 to 10 minutes, breaking up meat with back of spoon until browned and completely cooked. Remove from heat; drain.

  2. Add vinaigrette to beef mixture and stir to combine. Arrange lettuce, tomato, red onion and feta cheese, as desired on top of pitas and spoon on beef mixture; sprinkle with green onions, if desired. Fold pita over the beef filling to eat hand-held.
