Grilled Teriyaki Temptation Marinated Steak

Explore a taste of Japan right in your own back yard with this teriyaki marinade, made with ingredients you likely have on hand. Marinate an Inside Round steak in the morning and be ready for a quick grill at dinner time.

Ingredients

¼ cup (60 mL) EACH Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce 1 tbsp (15 mL) EACH rice vinegar and vegetable oil 1 tsp (5 mL) EACH sesame oil, liquid honey and garlic powder ½ tsp (2 mL) ground ginger 1 green onion, sliced 1 lb (500 g) Beef Inside Round Marinating Steak, 1 inch (2.5 cm) thick

1. Combine Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, vegetable oil, sesame oil, honey, garlic powder, ginger and green onion in a sealable freezer bag. Pierce steak all over with fork and cut into 4 equal pieces. Add to bag, turning to coat; seal and refrigerate for 8 to 12 hours. 2. Discard marinade from meat; pat steaks dry with paper towel. 3. Grill in a preheated closed barbecue over medium-high heat (400°F/200°C) for 10 to 12 minutes for 1 inch (2.5 cm) thick steaks, turning twice or more, or until a digital instant-read thermometer inserted sideways into centre of steak reads 145°F (63°C) for medium-rare doneness at the least. 4. Transfer to a cutting board and let rest for 5 minutes. Slice steak across the grain to serve.

Tip

Marinades are all about building steak flavour and juiciness. Piercing steak all over with a fork is what helps tenderize the steak.

Tip

No grill? Pan-fry these steaks over medium-high heat in an oiled skillet or place on a rack over a rimmed baking sheet and broil instead of grilling.
