The classic flavours of a cheeseburger are served up on this simple-to-prepare flatbread for a delicious kids menu entrée. Fully assembled in advance and heated to order, the flatbread is topped with a smoky pizza sauce, juicy Ground Beef and shredded Cheddar cheese for a winning combo. Plus, it’s easily customizable for picky eaters!
Ingredients
Here are the following ingredients:
- 2 tbsp (30 mL) canola oil
- 2½ lb (1.3 kg) Ground Beef (Medium)
- 2 tsp (10 mL) kosher salt
- 1½ tsp (7 mL) freshly ground black pepper
- 2 cups (500 mL) barbecue sauce
- 2 cups (500 mL) pizza sauce
- 16 naan or flatbread (8 inch/20 cm)
- 2 lb (1 kg) shredded Cheddar and mozzarella cheese blend, about 8 cups (2 L)
Service
- 6 oz (175 g) shredded lettuce, about 4 cups (1 L)
- 1 lb (500 g) quartered cherry tomatoes, about 4 cups (1 L)
- 12 oz (375 g) sliced pickles, about 2 cups (500 mL)
- 2 cups (500 mL) ranch dressing
Preparation
- Heat oil in large skillet set over medium-high heat. Cook ground beef until browned. Drain off fat. Season with salt and pepper. Cool completely.
- Combine barbecue sauce with pizza sauce. Spread ¼ cup (60 mL) sauce over each naan or flatbread leaving a small border.
- Top with ⅓ cup (75 mL) EACH shredded cheese and cooked beef. Cover and refrigerate.
Service
- Bake flatbread, in conventional oven, until heated through and cheese is melted.
- Garnish flatbread with ¼ cup (60 g) EACH lettuce and tomatoes and 2 tbsp (30 mL) pickles.
- Cut into pieces; transfer to serving plate. Drizzle with 2 tbsp (30 mL) ranch dressing or serve.
Chef's Tip
Substitute barbecue sauce with ketchup. Add bacon for a deluxe cheeseburger flatbread. Serve with fries, veggie sticks, apple slices or Caesar salad.
