Garlic-Sautéed Mushrooms

A simple grilled, broiled or pan-fried steak or burger turns into a restaurant-worthy dish with the addition of perfectly seasoned, sautéed mushrooms. The trick is to cook the mushrooms long enough to release and evaporate the liquid for a deep, caramelized flavour.

Here are the following ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) EACH olive oil and butter
  • 1 lb (500 g) sliced cremini and/or button mushrooms
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp (2 mL) steak spice
  • Salt and fresh ground pepper

Follow these cooking methods/directions: 1. Heat oil and butter over medium heat in a large skillet. Cook mushrooms, garlic and steak spice and a pinch each of salt and pepper, stirring often, for 10 minutes or until liquid is released and evaporates, and mushrooms are softened and golden brown.
