Cheeseburger-Style Pizza with Beef Sausage

Seasoned beef sausage meat adds a lot of flavour to a pizza that has all the trappings of your favourite burger. Choose different varieties of beef sausage to change up the flavours each time you make the recipe.

  • 2 Beef Sausages (about 4 oz/125 g EACH)
  • One 12-inch (30 cm) ready-made or rolled pizza dough crust
  • ½ cup (125 mL) pizza sauce
  • ½ red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup (250 mL) shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup (250 mL) shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • Toppings (optional)
  • Diced tomato
  • Shredded iceberg lettuce
  • Mayonnaise or Sriracha mayonnaise, in squeeze bottle

Follow these cooking methods/directions:

  1. Cut sausage casings open; cook sausage meat over medium-high heat in nonstick skillet for 8 to 10 minutes, breaking into small chunks with back of spoon, until browned and completely cooked. Remove from heat and drain.

  2. Place pizza crust on a pizza pan or large baking sheet. Spread with pizza sauce and top with cooked sausage meat, onion and cheeses.

  3. Bake in preheated 425°F oven for about 15 minutes or until cheese is melted and crust is crispy and golden. Top with diced tomato, shredded lettuce and a squiggle of mayonnaise/sriracha mayonnaise, if desired.
