Meaty beef Back Ribs are a great alternative to traditional pork ribs, and perfect for a kids menu. The seasoning is light and mild, and ribs are slathered with sweet barbecue sauce after being slow roasted. The result is a sticky and tangy bite that’s tender, flavourful and easy to eat.

Ingredients

Here are the following ingredients:

  • 2 tsp (10 mL) brown sugar
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) dry mustard powder
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) garlic powder
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) onion powder
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) kosher salt
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 Back Ribs, full 7-bone rack and about 5 lb (2.2 kg) each

Service

  • 2¼ cups (550 mL) sweet barbecue sauce

Preparation

  1. Mix brown sugar, mustard powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper.
  2. Cut each rack into one-bone portions; arrange in a shallow hotel pan. Sprinkle over ribs to coat evenly. Cover tightly with foil.
  3. Cook, in conventional oven at 250°F (120°C), for 2½ to 3 hours or until meat is fork tender. Cool, cover and refrigerate.

Service

  1. Brush one rib with 1 tbsp (15 mL) barbecue sauce. Warm on grill or under broiler until heated through and caramelized around the edges.
  2. Brush with an additional 1 tbsp (15 mL) barbecue sauce before removing from heat.
